Why Obama really won the election?
What is racism? To me racism is basing ones decisions on race. I have heard some real disgraceful statements from members of my family and from comedians on BET during this past election. "You are Mexican so you have to vote democratic." and "I am black, who do you think I am going to vote for". That second statement is the most racist statement I have ever heard... I mean come on really think about it. It not only shows ones ignorance but it is really racist to say that. I mean dont get me wrong racism is definetly on the decline as one of my blogbuddies would put it.
So lets get to the title of this post...Why Obama really won the election? Up until November 4th 2008 there were two common characteristics among the majority of voters....white and elderly. With the primary bringing the first African American Presidential Candidate we now have new demographics that probably never voted before.....African Americans and young voters. So I ask is that really what the Presidential Race should come down to...."I am black, who do think I am going to vote for..."?

your blog is good good good......
I disagree just a little. Voting for someone because of their race is a racist action but it doesn't make you a racist. I think in order to be a true racist, you have to consistently do racist things. For example, just because you get caught speeding doesn't mean you are a criminal.
I voted for Obama because I like his ideas for our government. The fact that he is a minority is a bonus for me because I am also part of a minority. So although I voted for him mainly because of his ideas, at least a tiny bit of me also voted for him because he is a minority and having a minority in power might be a good thing for my race.
Tito Tito Tito. I originally read this post a few hours after you wrote it but I wanted to take some time to figure out how to approach it.
One of my specialties in debates is in fact 'Racism', ask Dame. But I know you already know the answer to your question. One thing I would like to point out before I continue with my response is that political parties ALWAYS look better on paper than they do in motion. As you may know, there never REALLY can be a TRUE democracy once you involve a group of more than 5 people. Shit, on paper Communism doesn't look half as bad but it just doesn't work in REAL life (Shout out to Che Guevarra).
So with that said I want the record to show that both the Democratic AND Republican parties have flaws within them and aren't as solid as each tries to portray themselves. So the question we must ask ourselves is which is LEAST flawed. The lesser of two evils so to speak. Another question you must ask yourself is "Who am I more concerned about, my country or myself"? I'm going to come out and say that Republicans and their policies seemed more concerned about THEIR welfare and THEIR success where as Democratic policies (in general) seemed to be more concerned with the greater good. And I LOVE that mentality, "we must serve the greater good for the greatest number" - John Stuart Mill.
Let me share with you WHY I believe this is more important than ever. The American dream is at the moment a nightmare. Our country is ridiculously unstable. From the day those terrorists attacked our cities, things have never been the same. We looked like DeeBo getting knocked the fuck out by Craig. We were the political and economical bullies and we got caught off guard, BIGTIME. Well now several years later, we're no better off. This election year was the most important in DECADES! The world was waiting to see how and IF America would dust itself off and get back up. And when that dust settled we had to make a decision as to whether we wanted the young, charismatic, intelligent, humble and determined Obama with his fists up or did we want the quiet, short, wrinkly, viciously OLD white guy with his cane? I'm not making fun on John McCain but his age was SERIOUSLY overlooked and left us to believe that if he went down with ANY of the dozens of conditions he should be running into soon, that we would be left with (cough)Sarah Palin. Wow. Sarah Palin. Now c'mon Tito....how the FUCK are we supposed to re-establish our god damn authority in the world with those two? Seriously. McCain's foreign policy and international savvyness would NOT be enough to EARN the amount of respect that we lost 7 years ago and continue to do so to this day. Taxes is all I fuckin hear about from Republicans, I don't wanna be taxed...blah blah blah....me me me. Seriously, I respected Republicans up until the point where they started thinking about their own damn $$$$$ instead of the the country's National Security, Economic Crisis and every other shithole the LAST republican put us in. I'll be honest, I find certain republicans to be greedy, self centered and selfish in general for not looking at the BIG picture on this one.....but again, only certain republicans.
Now to address your primary question. Why did Obama win? Lol. Cause people realized THIS election wasn't the same ol same ol. It wasn't two old white doods standing up there lying without remorse. We had an option this year. We had a choice. We had a canidate who spoke for the little man, which APPARENTLY is the MAJORITY of the country. Common sense says when shit is fuckin up, you gotta try sumthin different, PERIOD. President Obama IS sumthin different and when you only have 2 options Tito, YOU MUST go with the lesser of the two evils and if you can, the one who serves the GREATEST GOOD FOR THE GREATEST NUMBER.
Let me leave you with this last thought. Who do you want trying to negotiate with Iran, North Korea, and Pakistan? These terrorist supporting countries were watching this election just as closely, if not CLOSER than we were. National Security is a HUGE concern for me. I don't like how these fuckin assholes can just hop a plane and crash it in our own backyard. I'm an advocate of waterboarding and will sign off on collateral damage anyday. Terrorists have already penetrated this country and they live in our cities. They're Sleeper Cells grow by the month and even use our very own El Paso bridges to enter the country now. You live in El Paso Texas, home to one of the LARGEST military bases in the country. Home to the Patriot Missile, a priceless weapon in America's arsenal. It has been reported that Ft. Bliss is in fact, an occupant of the Top Ten Targets if we were EVER to enter DEFCON1. Now think about that.
Fuck my taxes, I'm more concerned with who can deter a bomb from going up my ass.
Cerebral- you are making it seem like i have something personal against Obama...well you are incorrect. I have a problem with people voting him in on the simple fact that he is african-american. Take the comment submitted by adrianvalles, he has a sound reason for voting him in... the fact that he is minority just boosted his likeliness for him... I got no problem with that.
Cererbral comment:
Tito, YOU MUST go with the lesser of the two evils and if you can, the one who serves the GREATEST GOOD FOR THE GREATEST NUMBER.
Even if all you have is two options and you go on the basic parameter that you will always choose the lesser of two evils... you always have that choice. My beef is with those people that never voted before in their life and come present day Nov 4th, 2008 they voted simply on color.
I am not one to question another citizens choice on political views. Your thoughts on republican and taxes are very just and fair, more power to you and educated peoplelike you...vote on...but as i stated before those voters that only based their decision on that fact that he is african-anerican (50%)are ignorant.
adrian...actually if a criminal is defined as someone who breaks the law than somemone that speeds is a criminal...i love to speak in technicalities.
Let's agree to disagree. LOL
Voting for someone based on their skin color is stupid and racist.
However, it doesn't make you a racist.
Aghhhhh. I see some holes in the comments that I'm reading and I'd like shine some light on them. Why...........why is it that when we discuss Barack Obama we need to bring up the color of his skin? Nobody KNOWS exactly why people voted for this person or that person. No poll or survey in the world could truly reveal that information. And to try to tackle that issue with no true source of knowledge makes the attempt unjustified and pointless. You know why people never voted Tito? Cause it never really fuckin mattered! Do I wanna get fucked by this guy or that guy? Thats all it every was. Before Barack, there were no choices, there wasn't any difference. You give people a choice and they'll fill the boths. Does that make them ignorant? Hardly! Now whats up with all this MINORITY horseshit I hear? Pensive, you said you were content with people voting for Obama because he was and represented MINORITIES? Well, the fact that his skin is "black" MAKES him a minority, right? So that means people DID vote for Barack simply because of his "color". Hahaha. The color thing is played out man. Barack Obama is our next President cause he blew out the competition and represented the very hope that the MAJORITY of Americans wanted and needed. Not cause the dood is tanned. You gotta give the man his credit and stop disrespecting him by insinuating he won because he's "black". As it turns out, the Republicans actually ARE the MINORITY in this country. The Democrats are now the MAJORITY, we just never had a reason to go vote. Get comfortable, cause you can expect 8 years of Obama.
Cerebral again you think that i have a problem with Obama because the color of his skin...not so my good friend. I have got a problem with ignorant citizens basing their decision on color and color only. If you are a white supremist and you voted McCain just because he is white ... then you are ignorant.
The american people always had a choice ....whether it was Kerry or Bush, Obama or McCain.....and 56% to 43% is hardly a blowing out the competition.
Eh. I've made a few points that have yet to be addressed.
Skin color has ALWAYS been linked to the political party you side with (for the most part) and it will continue to do so until those with "darker" skin have more money and power that those with "lighter" skin. The origin of this fact is a long, dirty path that deserves its OWN post.
